Celebrando la Lucha por la Libertad en el 4 de Julio (Celebrating the Fight for Freedom on the Fourth)

Español: Cada año, en el 4 de Julio recordamos a nuestros padres fundadores y la preciada herencia de libertad que garantizaran para nosotros. Cada año parecemos alejarnos cada vez más de ese derecho innato, pero todavía queda mucho para celebrar.

Este país fue fundado sobre los principios de libertad, de arrogantes gobernantes, de impuestos onerosos, y sobre el derecho de vivir nuestras vidas como creamos oportuno. Nuestra independencia fue ganada luego de décadas, y hasta siglos de abusos inescrupulosos, de líderes corruptos y de gobiernos grandes situados por sobre sus súbditos. Los Fundadores sabían que había un mejor camino, y lo crearon aquí en este suelo.

En los nuevos Estados Unidos de América los derechos de los individuos fueron consagrados en la Carta de Derechos. Hoy, el gobierno invade esos derechos a través de incontables disposiciones en muchas leyes. Sin embargo, ¡Cuánto peor estaríamos si los Fundadores no hubieran enumerado estos derechos en la ley suprema de la tierra! Si bien es verdad que muchos aspectos de esos derechos han sido redefinidos y diluidos, y probablemente continúen siendo erosionados, podemos celebrar la sabiduría de los Fundadores y que en nuestra base, nosotros, como americanos, todavía sostenemos estos queridos derechos.

La tradición Americana de la libertad individual e independencia individual todavía está presente, a pesar de las crecientes tendencias de “Estado Niñera” que el gobierno nos fuera empujando en nuestras gargantas. Es triste ver al gobierno reemplazar completamente a las protecciones voluntarias de las familias y la caridad con las que hemos contado a lo largo de nuestra historia. Especialmente preocupante es la retórica de comunidad e interdependencia que está siendo empleada por la administración para institucionalizar al gobierno como el gran intermediario para toda la Atención de la Salud y la Caridad por las cuales todos los ciudadanos deben sacrificarse diligentemente. Esta tendencia no está mejorando la calidad de vida para los Americanos, en cambio está enriqueciendo enormemente a las burocracias del gobierno que reciben una generosa tajada de todas las transacciones del Estado “benefactor”.
Todavía existe mucha resistencia a la dependencia y control, de cuna a tumba, del gobierno. Este espíritu de feroz independencia es un tributo a nuestros Fundadores, y es motivo de celebración.

La mayoría de nuestros Fundadores creían en una moneda sólida, en parte porque sabía que mantenía al gobierno en jaque. Los gobiernos que son incapaces de expandir la oferta monetaria y manipular el crédito a voluntad, son incapaces de financiar frívolas guerras de conquista. En vez de aventurarse en el extranjero, buscando monstruos que destruir, los gobiernos limitados por una moneda sólida están sujetos a guerras de legítima defensa, por las que la gente está dispuesta a luchar y a financiar. Hoy en día, a pesar de toda la agitación económica que han creado la moneda fiduciaria y el intervencionismo militar, hay motivo para celebrar. La demanda para auditar a la Reserva Federal es muy alentadora. La verdad acerca de la Fed nos pondrá un paso más cerca de la moneda sólida y de la paz.

El clamor público en contra de los rescates bancarios y la toma de más Poder por el gobierno conocida como “Cap and Trade”, prueba que el espíritu de libertad todavía vive. Parte de nuestra celebración del Día de la Independencia debería incluir una renovada determinación para seguir luchando la buena lucha por la libertad. Mientras el gobierno constantemente busque despojarnos de nuestras libertades, los patriotas deberán seguir luchando esta continua guerra para mantener la independencia.

English: Every year on the Fourth of July we remember our founding fathers and the precious inheritance of freedom that they secured for us. Every year it seems we get further and further away from that birthright, but we still have much to celebrate.

This country was founded on principles of freedom from overbearing rulers, onerous taxation, and the right to live our lives as we see fit. Our independence was won after decades, and even centuries of abuses that unscrupulous, corrupted leaders and big governments visited upon their subjects. The Founders knew there was a better way, and they forged it here on this soil.

In the new United States of America, the rights of the individual were enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Today, government encroaches on those rights through countless provisions in numerous laws. However, how much worse off might we be had the Founders not enumerated these rights in the highest law of the land? While it is true that many aspects of those rights have been redefined and watered down, and will likely continue to be eroded, we can celebrate the wisdom of the Founders and that at our very core we, as Americans, still hold these rights dear.

The American tradition of individual liberty and self-reliance still runs deep, in spite of the increasing nanny state tendencies that government has been gradually shoving down our throats. It is sad to see government seeking to completely replace the voluntary protections through families and charities that we have relied on throughout our history. Especially disturbing is the rhetoric of community and interdependence being employed by the administration to institute government as the great middle man for all healthcare and charity for which all citizens must dutifully sacrifice. This trend is not improving quality of life for Americans, but instead is greatly enriching the government bureaucracies that take a generous cut of all transactions in the welfare state. There still remains much resistance to cradle to grave government dependence and control. This spirit of fierce independence is a tribute to our founders and is cause to celebrate.

The majority of our Founders believed in sound money, in part because they knew it kept government in check. Governments that are unable to expand the money supply and manipulate credit at will are unable to fund frivolous wars of conquest. Instead of adventurism abroad, seeking monsters to destroy, governments restrained by sound money are restricted to truly defensive wars that the people are willing to fight and to fund. Today, in spite of all the economic turmoil that fiat currency and military interventionism has caused, there is cause to celebrate. The demand to audit the Federal Reserve is quite encouraging. The truth about the fed will put us one step closer to sound money, and peace.

Public outcry against the bank bailouts and the government power grab known as cap-and-trade proves that the spirit of liberty still lives. Part of our celebration of Independence Day should include a renewed determination to keep fighting the good fight for freedom. As long as government continually seeks to take liberties away, patriots need to keep fighting this ongoing war for sustained independence.
